Question1. What is oscillation?
Answer: Oscillation is the repetitive variation, typically in time, of some measure about a central value (often a point of equilibrium) or between two or more different states. For examples an AC power and swinging pendulum. Oscillations occur not only in physical systems but also in biological systems and in human society.
Question2. Which electronic Device is used for Serial to parallel conversion?
De-multiplexer is used for serial to parallel conversion. Since it is a one to many devices.
Question3. Which is better in VLSI- NAND or NOR implementation? Why?
Answer: NAND implementation is better because, in NAND GATE, 2 NMOS are in series and PMOS are in parallel. NMOS is very fast than the PMOS. So when we connect them in series it becomes very fast, while due to the parallel connection of slower PMOS so results in the fast response, the system becomes faster.
Question4. Which semiconductor device is used as a voltage regulator and why?
Answer: The Zener diode is used as a voltage regulator because the voltage across the Zener diode in reverse bias is constant after reaching a certain value (breakdown voltage). Normal diodes distort at its breakdown voltage but the Zener diode still runs after this voltage and keeps the voltage constant across the diode even the supply voltage increases.

Answer: An Ideal Voltage Source is a Voltage Source with ZERO INTERNAL resistance.
Question6. If 5v Dc is given to a transformer, what will be the Output?
Answer: The transformer does not work on DC supply hence it will get damaged when 5v DC is given to a transformer because the transformer gives output through mutual induction and when DC is applied no EMF will induce in the secondary winding. So the transformer output will nothing.

Answer: In JK flip-flop race around problem will occur when both the inputs are high. it can be prevented by using a master-slave JK flip-flop.
Question8. What is the sampling theorem?
Answer: A continuous time signal can be represented in its samples and can be recovered back when sampling frequency Fs is greater than or equal to the twice the highest frequency component of the message signal. At the time of sampling the signal, it satisfies the Nyquist criteria Fs >= 2f. Fs=sampling freq. & f=signal frequency.
Question9. When transmitting digital signals, is it necessary to transmit some harmonics in addition to fundamental frequency?
Answer: Yes, it is necessary to transmit some harmonics in addition to fundamental frequency while transmitting digital signal because a one frequency signal may not be sufficient since the Analog and digital signals may look different and the receiver may not recognize it correctly. We need to add some harmonics to improve the shape of the signal for better communication, particularly for high data rates.
Question10. What is meant by pre-emphasis and de-emphasis?
“Improving the signal to noise ratio by increasing the magnitude of higher frequency signals with respect to lower frequency signals. Pre-emphasis is done at the transmitter end.”
