Making a professional resume is the first step in getting a job. An Impressive and professional resume lands you to the job interview.

Now, the next step is how to prepare for a job interview.

Following, are the points  everyone can follow for a good interview.

     Before the Interview

  • Analyze the Job descriptions. Compare your skills, Experience, and qualification according to the Job requirement.
  • Read your resume first, what you have discussed in your resume. You only submitted a resume, so the interviewer will ask the questions on your resume. You must prepare the questions on the skills you have written in your resume. Please don’t mention any skill in your resume on which you don’t have a good command.
  • If anyone of your friend is preparing for an interview, Discuss topics with him/her. By this way, you will get some new questions about your skills.
  • Make a notebook that contains all the questions asked in your other interviews. And try to find the answers to the questions asked previously. These questions will help you a lot.
  • Before going to the interview research about the organization its products and processes. If you are going to give a technical interview, the interviewer can ask the question related to the process of that organization, so you must be aware of the process and the products of that organization.
  • Wear a formal dress properly ironed to attend the interview. You must look like a professional. Don’t forget to take your resume and a pen.
  • Take some extra copies of your resume on quality paper.
  • Reach 30 minutes before the time of the interview. This shows your punctuality and also you will look relaxed.

At the time of the Interview

  • Sit straight yet comfortably at the time of interview.
  • Be confident at the time of interview. Make an eye contact with the interviewer while answering your questions.
  • Listen carefully the questions asked by the interviewer and don’t answer the questions in hurry.
  • If the question is not clear to you please ask the interviewer to ask it again. You can say I did not understand the question will you ask it again.
  • If your answer contains any diagram use your pen to better explain it to the interviewer.
  • If you don’t know the exact answer of your question but you know some related answer or another answer of that topic, explain that answer by saying that Sir/Mam I know about this instead of your question. This may leave a positive impression on the interviewer.
  • Be honest at the time of interview. If you don’t know the answer to the question, simply say I don’t know but please don’t give a wrong answer to any question. This may be your negative point and can change the mindset of the interviewer.
  • Many interviews end with “Do you have any question”. So you can ask about the most important criteria for success in this job. Ask about the organization’s culture and what makes your organization a great place to work. You can ask what the next phase of hiring is. You can also ask how my performance will be evaluated.
