Pneumatic Power Cylinder
Pneumatic power cylinder is an important part of a pneumatic control system.
The pneumatic power cylinders (sometimes known as air cylinders) are the mechanical device which use the power of compressed air to produce a force in a reciprocating linear motion. It has mainly three parts-
- Piston Rod
The piston rod transfers the force it develops to the object to be moved.
Pneumatic Power cylinders are of two types
- Single Acting
In single-acting, cylinder operates when the air is given to it and when the air is removed, cylinder returns in its initial state or a spring returns the piston rod to its original state. only one air connection is provided in the single acting type pneumatic power cylinder.
Single-acting cylinders (SAC) use the pressure imparted by compressed air to create a driving force in one direction (usually out), and a spring to return to the “original” position.
- Double Acting
Double acting cylinders are mostly used in the industries like- power plant, paper industries, sugar industries, chemicals, and pharmaceutical industries etc.
In Double acting power cylinders, two air connections are provided, one for open the cylinder and another for close the cylinder.
An SOV(Solenoid Valve) is used to operate the pneumatic power cylinder.
